How to Get THE BEST Hidden Weapons in Dark Souls 3

Dark-soul-3-best-hidden-weapons

It’s time to die again, heroes! That’s right, the most rage-inducing, aneurysm-causing, controller-breaking game is now a trilogy with its most recent release of Dark Souls 3. However, while a skilled tuck-and-roller can get pretty far using that paltry little weapon you get at the beginning, if you want to die a little less, you will need some better armaments. Part of the charm of the Dark Souls series is that the best weapons are often the hardest to get. Below are some of the best weapons in the game, but beware, you’ll need to work for them. Get ready for some serious exploration, multiple playthroughs, and dying – lots and lots of dying.

dark souls 3 dragon slayer axeDragonslayer’s Axe

“Axe favored by Creighton the Wanderer, infamous deserter of the Knights of Mirrah. Called Dragonslayer’s Axe for the lightning that pulsates within its blade, but Creighton used it to slay men.”

How to Get It

Providing you don’t piss off Sirris at the Firelink Shrine in Farron Keep, after you find the Dreamchaser’s Ashes in Farron Keep and deliver then to the handmaid, you will be able to see Sirris again.  Upon entering Irthyll Valley and defeating the beast on the bridge, players should return to the beginning of the bridge. There should now be a summon sign where you can enter Sirris’ world and defend her from Creighton the Wanderer. If you are successful, Creighton will invade your world later in Irithyll Valley. Dispatch him and he will drop his axe, among other things.

chaos-blade-onhand-largeChaos Blade

A cursed sword of unknown origin bearing uncanny streaks on its blade. Attacks also damage its wielder. The sword is not unlike a thing misshapen, granted life, but never welcome in this world. In other words, chaos itself.”

How to Get It

In order to get the Chaos Blade, players must first find one of the hidden areas in the game, the Untended Graves. This area can be found by continuing through the Ocerios, the Consumed King’s boss chamber until you find an alter. Interact with it and the wall will disappear, revealing a tunnel. Through the tunnel is the Untended Graves. The area, as you may notice, is an exact replica of the beginning area, the Cemetery of Ash, but shrouded in darkness. There are a number of different enemies here, but the Chaos Blade will be in the bizarro Firelink Shrine, up the stairs from the alter. It is in the same location where you fought Sword Master Saber.

Manikin Claws

Weapon of the Pale Shades, assassins of the Sable Church of Londor. The curved claws cause heavy bleeding. When two handed, claws are equipped to each hand.”

How to Get It

This weapon is only available to those who are on bad terms with Yuria of Londor (after killing the pilgrim in the Church to save Anri). After doing that, travel to the Irithyill Valley, but don’t kill the boss just yet. Wander around until you are invaded by the Londor Pale Shade. Defeat it and the Manikin Claws are yours.

hqdefaultFume Ultra Greatsword

This twisted sword, the heaviest of all ultra greatswords, resembles black slate. This weapon, said to belong to a traitor from long ago, was so heavy that it found no owner, and became a forgotten relic of history.”

How to Get It

To get this greatsword, you must first find the Smouldering Lake hidden area. Inside the Catacombs, slash at the far side of the old rope bridge and it will fall, turning into a ladder. Climbing down, explore until you find a room filled with lizards and a bridge guarded by a Black Knight beyond. Just before the bridge there is an easily missed area that heads into a staircase going down. At the bottom, there is a Heavy Knight wielding your desired great sword. Kill him and pry his weapon out of his cold, dead hands.

heysel_pickHeysel Pick

“Choice weapon of Yellowfinger Heysel, a Finger of Rosaria and Xanthous scholar. It’s both a weapon and sorcery staff. The gold specks are remnants of lost sorceries.”

How to Get It

The Heysel Pick is tricky to get, but so worth once you do as it is essentially both a melee and spell casting weapon. The Heysel Pick is gotten through invasion, so players need to ember up and just wander around the Road of Sacrifices until a red guy shows up. However, if players have beaten any bosses in the immediate area following the Road of Sacrifices, they have locked themselves off from this weapon.

Good news, though!

There is one other way to get it. If you have pledged yourself to the Rosaria’s Fingers covenant, after you have talked with Leonhard enough, he will eventually kill Rosaria. Take the Black Eye Orb from her corpse, go kill Aldrich, and go to the room above the arena to invade Leonhard’s world. Kill him, return to Rosaria, revive her and leave the area. When you return, a person will be sitting there holding a staff as thanks from Rosaria. Instead of being grateful, kill him and pluck the Heysel Pick off of its corpse.

murakumoMurakumo

The curved greatsword of Alva, Seeker of the Spurned, specially forged in an eastern land. Sharp but heavy, this sword requires extreme strength and dexterity to wield. The search for the spurned had no end, and so the wayfaring knight warmed to a most deformed weapon.”

How to Get It

Get all embered up and head into the Irithyll Valley, but don’t kill any bosses. Once you reach the staircase that heads into the Irithyll Dungeon, Alva, Seeker of the Spurned will invade your world. Murder them horribly and take the Murakumo.

twin_princess_greatsword1Twin Princes’ Greatsword

Sword forged from the reunion of the inseparable swords born from the souls of Lothric and Lorian, the twin princes. Their union is rooted in a curse, and perpetuated by grief.”

How to Get It

The bad news is that getting this greatsword will take some time, nearly two playthroughs worth of time. The good news …Well, there is no good news. I guess it looks cool? Anyway, after defeating the twin princes the first time, you will be given the Souls of the Twin Princes, which is used at Ludleth’s transposition kiln to make either Lothric’s Holy Sword or Lorian’s Greatsword. Make either, and start the game on New Game+. Use the soul again to make the other sword and afterwards you will now see the option to transpose the Twin Prince’s Greatsword.
